PARTY TOWARDS THE FINISH LINE
In The Infinite Wrench, every weekend, we the Neo-Futurists race to complete an ever-changing menu of thirty original plays in just sixty minutes. We look the audience in the eye, we invite them to dance & shout & share onstage because the only way we can finish the show is with their help. And when we finish, we celebrate.
This year, we are raising $60,000 in 60 days and, just like in our shows, we are asking for your help to get there.
This upcoming year, we are continuing our commitment to creating radically honest new work. As always, The Infinite Wrench will run 49 weekends out of the year, including the fan-favorite Pride Wrench, joined this year by The Blackest Wrench in honor of Juneteenth. In August, we will premiere Boy Mom, a two-hander written and performed by Andres Coronado & their mom Alicia Coronado. Throughout the year, Dan Kerr-Hobert & Lizi Breit will workshop Pompeii, an historical puppet play to premiere in 2028. We will also host our third annual Artist of Color Residency Showcase, featuring the latest AOC scholar cohort.
We have been creating this work in our home in Andersonville since 1991. The space has become its own art piece through our thick binders of archives, hall of presidential portraits, and prop artifacts displayed around the building. Recently, this building was purchased and the future of our physical home is uncertain. And as the funding landscape changes, we rely less on foundation and government grants and more on you, the people who love the work and its artists.
This past year, we traveled around the city through The Infinite Wrench Stays Local and our partnership with Night Out in the Parks, performing thirty original plays in sixty minutes at Pilsen Community Books, UrbanTheater, and in our city’s parks. These experiences were communal and joyful - a true celebration of the city of Chicago and its inhabitants. The art goes where we go and where you are.
So why a party? A party is about the people, not the place. A party is a choice - to celebrate what we have amid uncertainty & fear, to prioritize community over isolation, and to commit to joy over cynicism.
Generous individuals like you step up to protect work that is immediate and personal, that does not hide or obscure but instead aims to illuminate and connect. When you give, you foster that work and you join that party. And every dollar counts.
Thank you for being a part of the race towards an ever-changing finish-line. We hope to celebrate with you along the way.
Infinite means forever,
